F.A.Q.
How long have you been drawing?
I've been drawing pretty much my whole life, but I became serious about learning how to draw properly waaayy back in the early 90s or so, when I was still in Jr. High School. In college, I studied anything that would help me to advance my dream of being a cartoonist, from life drawing to photography. I believe that art cannot be taught, and is not a "talent". Artistic skill comes from hard work and experience, and I am still striving to learn.
Are you open for commissioned work?
This old mouse has retired from taking commissioned work on a regular basis, but if I ever have openings I will announce on twitter @lilgreymouse.
What materials do you use?
For traditional art, I use a combo of mechanical non-photo blue and #2 pencils on bristol board and then ink with a brush pen. If coloring traditionally, I use Prismacolor and Copic markers. In recent years however, I have mostly converted to digital art. I use Photoshop and a Wacom Cintiq 24 Pro tablet.
Is "Mary Mouse" you?
Mnn... yes and no. When creating Mary many years ago, I had no intention of doing any serious work with her. She was kind of created as a joke among friends. However, she's now become the character I write stories about as well as a nickname that I use online. I guess she is more of my mascot, and a way I can "act" out my ideas on paper.
